Green Chili Popper Dip

Updated: Sep 10, 2023

My Green Chili Popper Dip is a melty, creamy, mildly spicy, crowd-pleasing dip to serve as an entertaining appetizer or game day snack.

Just like the beloved jalapeño popper dip, this green chili popper appetizer is just as great. This one is just a little tangy, with a seasoned, mildly spicy cream base, topped with stretchy cheese, crispy bacon, and fresh green onions. So good!

If you're looking for something to serve while entertaining guests in the upcoming holiday season or enjoy while you're cheering on your favourite team this fall, you need to try this recipe! It's not too spicy, but has great flavour so it's sure to please everyone!

Green Chili Popper Dip

Ingredients

  • 3-4 slices bacon

  • 1-2 green chili peppers, diced

  • 1 8-ounce block of cream cheese

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese

  • 1 green onion, sliced

  • tortilla chips

Directions

  1. Preheat to 375°F and lay a paper towel on a plate.

  2. Bring a medium skillet to medium heat. Cut the bacon into 1/2-inch slices. When the pan is hot, add the bacon and cook, stirring occasionally until crispy. Place on the plate with the paper towel to let soak in the grease.

  3. Remove all bacon grease form the pan but one tablespoon. Dice the peppers, and slice 1/4 of one. Add the diced peppers to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes or until beginning to soften. Remove from the pan.

  4. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, 3/4 of the bacon, cooked chili peppers, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Then spread into a small casserole dish or oven-safe bowl. Top with the cheddar cheese and place in the oven to bake for about 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling on the edges.

  5. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving. Top with the remaining bacon, green onions, and chili pepper slices and enjoy with tortilla chips!
